A national non-profit organization with a multidisciplinary
focus on development is called LASOONA-Relief and Development Organization. It
was founded in 1997 by a committed, forward-thinking group of civic-minded
individuals who were passionate about promoting the development of natural
resources and human capital in Pakistan's most vulnerable and underdeveloped
regions. Under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, it was registered as an
NGO in 1998.
The
organization was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of
Pakistan (SECP) in accordance with section 42 of the Companies Act 2017 and
formed as a not-for-profit company in 2023. In accordance with Section 2(36) of
the Income Tax Ordinance, LASOONA is exempt from taxes and has been approved or
accredited by the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP).
German
Agro Action was the previous name of Welthungerhilfe, which was founded in
1962. It is currently one of the biggest private sector organizations in
Germany engaged in humanitarian relief and development cooperation. The
organization Welthungerhilfe (WHH) is nonpartisan, nonprofit, and
nondenominational. Its operations in Africa, Asia, and Latin America are
supported by donations from the general public. In addition, WHH gets funding
from the UN, BMZ, the European Union, and the Federal German Government.
